Above, in Concert II Josh is the end-chair baritone. Last year he played clarinet in Concert II.
In Concert I Josh is the lead Tuba.
Above Josh is lead trombone in Jazz I (the lead trombone in jazz is flanked by second and third chairs). Below is Symphonic Band where as with last year Josh first chair trombone. As you will notice, with each group his tux changes in style.
Following the concert the music teachers left the next morning for a conference in Chicago. The substitute teacher is not a music teacher so with the substitute sitting in the room Josh puts each of the bands through their rehearsals. For weeks if one of the music teachers has to be out of the room, whether it be for ten minutes or thirty, they have been turning the groups over to Josh to conduct.

I think Joshua is enjoying the opportunities to conduct. I find it interesting that he, rather than one the three drum majors, is leading the group so often. Of course, the two senior drum majors are not planning to major in music. The band directors know that Joshua wants to major in music education, so they're giving him some good opportunities. He also does some behind the scenes tasks, such as photocopying parts, etc.
is there ANY instrument that he DOESN'T play???
Jenn, he can play any brass instrument. Josh wants to take his woodwind skills to the next level but that will be done in college. He is playing the Piano at school and home. Though for two years in Iowa, or was it three, he played the Viola, but those skills are long gone. He will need to learn percussion for his percussion efficiency.
how wonderful that the teachers are able to give him the opportunity to conduct.
