Highway of Heroes Video
This video speaks for itself and how Canadians honor their fallen.
I find videos like this difficult to watch, yet I am also drawn to them. Kevin is often "on watch" with other emergency services personel along the highway during the Hero motorcades. As Jason is the "Base Bugler", he played at the funerals and memorial services for the 5 fallen soldiers in this video. It has been difficult for him to do so, yet he considers it an honour to ensure all fallen soldiers are given full honours and respect.
I work with many people who have fathers, sons, daughters, spouses in the military. Some are now overseas, some have returned after being injured, some of us are preparing for our family members to go over seas within the next year. All of us live with the knowledge that although remote, there is the possibility of having to "drive" the Highway of Heroes. We all feel very priviledged to be Canadians, as although there is not necessarily full support for the government's decision to have our soldiers in Afghanistan, Canadians support our soldiers regardless. The Highway of Heroes is a clear indication of this.

So Canadian - grass roots - it started as a spontaneous expression of respect and love for our soldiers.
