Concert Season Starts

The concert season officially started with last night's concert. The three concert bands and the two jazz bands performed for just under two hours. Josh had a busy night changing from his black tuxedo to the white and back to black.

You will easily find Josh in each of the five photos.

The next concert is in two weeks...the Holiday Concert. The third concert, the Pre-Festival Concert is at the end of February. The final concert is at the end of May.

Ah yes, the Concert circut. I miss those days. With Jason getting married this year, I won't be able to fly home to see his final recital in March or his final U of T concerts either (can't swing 2 flights home in just under 2 months). Cherish those times being a concert groupie. Time flies fast.

Are the concert and Jazz bands as competitive as the Marching Band?

There is not a concert competition curcuit as such. At the State's Festival Concert scoring is done. There is great pride when a school receives a "1" grade. When the details in the scoring sheets becomes known, there is pride when your school outperformed one of your revival school (or consternation the other way). There are jazz competitions, but again they are not as developed as marching band.

Has anyone noticed Joshua playing the clarinet in the final photo?
