Great Cornetist

Following is a solo by one of the best cornetists in the world, Philip Sparke. Note who with little effort he plays in the upper register. The solo ends on a high C.

Shortly after this performance at the European Brass Band Championship (this band won the championship) Mr. Sparke retired.

Enjoy

Phillip Sparke is the composer of "Hymn Of The Highlands" which is one of the pieces that I played last year for festival. Our director said that our performance that day was almost as close to perfect as could be and that it was the best performance that she had conducted. She ended up this past week at the Midwest conference getting that score signed by him as well as giving him a recording of our performance of that piece. She also commissioned him to write a piece for the Oakton Symphonic Band.

Mr. Sparke is a great cornet player. He also has his own line of cornet and trumpet mouthpieces, of which I use. They're great mouthpieces and have really helped me with my cornet sound. This is a great video!
